ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:
BS, Gordon College, Sociology BS, Gordon College, Recreation & Leisure Studies
Overview:
Growing up with a music teacher for a mom, I began playing piano, learning music theory, and sight-reading at age 5. After years of studying piano, I expanded my musical journey by picking up the trombone, bass, guitar, and drums by the age of 12. I am a passionate instructor who loves to watch students grow and develop. The majority of my teaching experience has been in the realm of sports and physical education, however, I have a deep love for music and it brings me joy to share my gifts with others. I have a down to earth, high-energy demeanor and have extensive experience working with students ages 5-18.
EXPERIENCE
In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. Along with teaching music, I have much experience working with students ages 2-18 as a summer camp sports director, youth director at a teen center, and a soccer coach and trainer.
METHODS USED
Guitar: An exploration of a variety of genres with an emphasis on technique and precision. We will master scales, basic chords, and important chord structures. Lessons will include an introduction to sight-reading and music theory as well as playing by ear, soloing, and songwriting. Bass: Lessons will focus on technique and music theory. We will explore a variety of genres and practice both sight-reading and playing by ear. Drums: Our focus is to learn basic rudiments and patterns while developing coordination. We will learn to read music, explore counting in different time signatures, and practice playing by ear. Piano: We will master scales, basic chords, and important chord structures. Lessons will include an introduction to sight-reading and music theory as well as playing by ear, soloing, and songwriting. Trombone: Lessons will focus on technique, scales, and theory and include an introduction to sight-reading and as well as playing by ear.
LESSON STYLE
I am a passionate instructor who loves to watch students grow and develop. I am very involved and actively participate in each lesson, working with each student in order to learn together. I encourage students through positive reinforcement and attempt to instill a joy and love for music. By getting to know my students, I tailor lessons to their skill level and give each student control over how we learn and what we learn. Together, we set realistic and attainable goals and work hard to make those goals a reality.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
