As an artist, I believe in working to broaden the cultural horizon of this instrument through the arrangement and performance of works from around the world. My teaching style is dynamic, grounded in known pedagogical methods, and tailored to every student's individual goals. My students have achieved many honors, including 'Superior' ratings at solo and ensemble festivals. I also believe while hard work and discipline are imperative to success, a young musician must also learn the skills of patience and self-compassion. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For piano I general use the Faber and Faber method books unless I feel that a particular method would better benefit a specific student. Read More

I began teaching beginner students when I was 16 years old and have been doing it ever since. It's never seemed like a "job" to me. I enjoy the excitement of a first-time student making their first sound to sight-reading duets with more experienced students. I started a flute choir at a local high school and would love to start one of my own at my studio. Keeping things fun and interesting is vital to every student's success and I pride myself on getting to know each student on a personal level to achieve this goal. Read More

- Beginners will start with "Alfred's Basic Guitar Method" (Bass and Ukulele students will use the Alfred's book that applies to their instrument). Once a solid foundation is established, we will branch out into music that the student is interested in playing. - Classical Guitar students will use Charles Duncan's "A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar." - Intermediate and Advanced students will learn what they are interested in - rock/pop/country/etc. - Intermediate and Advanced students will also learn music theory and scales, at least at a basic level. I have a very energetic and adaptable teaching style. Having worked with students from 3 years old to in their 30's, I can mold lessons to fit any type of attention span. I have also worked with students with special education needs and physical issues, so I can also work with parents to find ways for any student, regardless of their situation, to enjoy a life of music. I will always use positive encouragement, and pressure will never be put on students for results in a certain amount of time. Read More
