I'm an ardent and compassionate instructor who enjoys sharing the gift of music with children and adults. Music enriches the communities in which we live and expands our capacity to connect with humanity. I studied privately with Philip J. Teibel of the Buffalo Philharmonic from childhood through High School. I toured the Southeast US with the Oberlin College Choir and Orchestra in college. Since graduation, I've had the opportunity to perform with numerous ensembles including: Soulful Symphony and the Baltimore Symphony at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Strathmore Music Center in North Bethesda. Instruments: Guitar
I have been playing guitar for over 40 years now, and have spent 6 years in guitar lessons myself. Three of those years were devoted to studying classical guitar. I have been teaching for over 12 years, and now instruction has becomethe main focal point of my playing. When I was 30 I decided to go back intoguitar lessons and study classical guitar. This was very challanging but made me a much better player all around. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to my college days, as I began teaching private adult lessons for my Studio class 5 years ago and have been teaching privately ever since. For the past year, however, I've been an elementary music teacher in Washington, D.C. I am certified to teach Pre-K-12th grades in public schools, although I usually coach adults privately. I now live in Richmond and gig around the area frequently at weddings, churches, and local venues/theatres. Read More

Some venues I’ve performed at include The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington Cemetery, Virginia, The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, The National Cathedral, Washington, D.C., The White House, Washington, D.C., and The Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. Read More

I am an experienced flutist and teacher currently serving the DC Metro area, and I love teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners picking up the flute for the very first time to advanced students preparing for County Band auditions and beyond, to adult students interested in learning a new skill. I received my Master of Music in Flute Performance from the New England Conservatory, and Bachelor of Music in Performance from George Mason University, and am continually improving my skills as a flutist by taking auditions for orchestras and festivals around the country. Instruments: Trumpet
I incorporate basic sightreading, scales, and musical literacy into this. For students with a bit of experience, I have an advanced version of this, which I usually pair with H.L. Clarke's "Techincal Studies for Trumpet/Cornet" and Vincent Cichowicz's "Flow Studies". Depending on the student's level of ability, I might also include parts of Arban's "Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet" or Vacchiano's "Trumpet Routines". I use the most time-tested trumpet literature to teach, and adapt my exercises and books to each student individually. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I began teaching a few beginner-level students during my first few years of college, and I have taught at the Bach to Rock music schools, and found that I enjoyed building new musicians. I like to emphasize the benefits of consistent, focused practice, especially to my beginner students, as well as the importance of proper warm-up activities. While I believe that music students should learn what they can of the vast and beautiful classical repertoire, it is also important that they are given the opportunity to learn songs and pieces that are important or interesting to them.
