I teach harmony, rhythm, technique, melody, and basic sight reading by a two fold approach. First is to really feel into the music. This means learning to listen deeply with curiosity, intention, respect, and joy bringing the meaning of play into every aspect of learning. The second part is to begin with the basics of music theory by grounding fully into the fundamentals. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. The first lesson i assess the student's ability - whether they can play, read music, and what kind of music they like. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their level. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I've been playing trombone professional for almost 20 years, my most recent gigs were playing for Princess Cruises full time, and been teaching for 20 years. My passion for playing isn't what it used to be, so I'm focusing my musical efforts on teaching.
