 Drawing upon my education and experiences as both performer and teacher, I strive to relate my musical background to my students' learning experiences and progress. As each student comes with his or her individual musical wants and interests, student lessons are designed to meet these needs of a particular student. I have young students of ages 5 to 14 as well as students of upper ages. I was born in Ukraine in 1977. At the age of 18 I was introduced to one of the"jazz guitar greats" who taught me theory and improvisation. Those lessons lit a fire inside me that has only grown stronger with time.I founded the band, Shykina, in 1997 and toured Europe for the next 6 years, releasing 3 albums. I then teach the necessary building blocks in order to reach certain goals that the student and I set in a timely manner. I graduated from North Carolina Central University, Magna Cum Laude, in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. I completed my first album, Magna Carta, in 2009. Through my experience, I have become skillful in identifying a student's strengths, weaknesses and learning style.
