I will do whatever it takes to teach the student whatever they are willing to learn. If they want to learn a specific genre on an instrument that has never been used for that genre, I will be happy to teach them. For example, I can play trap music on a piano, but I could also play death metal on a piano as well. Trap music doesn't have to be restricted to a computer, and death metal doesn't have to be restricted to just guitar, bass, and drums. Read More

It is of upmost importance that I tailor my teaching method to my student's learning pace and their ability to comfortably grasp that particular instrument's technique. One of my strongest traits is my patience with students of young ages. Read More

Hi there this is Ian. I began taking clarinet lessons at the age of 12 years old. From then on I branched out to other instruments including guitar and piano. I have been the lead vocalist of Rock bands including Graffiti NJ and S.T.O.R (The Sun Thugs of Rebellion). I studied under various teachers including Danny Roselle (Crash moderns) as well as Dave Feddoc, Chris Bloom, Gene Segal, Igor Ramos, and Stephen Hart (Les Miserables, Metallica Philharmonic Orchestra). I've been performing and teaching throughout NYC for the past 10 years. Both performing and teaching useful concepts are a big passion of mine. My goal is to get you to have fun learning what you want learn and along the way we'll learn technique and other important concepts. My home base is drumset but over the years I have really honed multiple instruments in the world of the rhythm section and love teaching the roles of each instrument in this world. Read More

For me, the most vital aspect of teaching involves creating a self-motivated student. I believe that you can do this by teaching music that is of interest to the person you're teaching, and by introducing material that is graded in such a way that it is always a little bit more challenging than what your student is used to (no matter the level they happen to play at). If a student has no reason to practice by themselves, and if a sense of curiosity and desire for exploration and accomplishment haven't been developed, the teaching itself becomes obsolete. Read More

The guitar has a poor reputation as a serious instrument, when it fact it is quite difficult, even physically un-natural to play. Bad habits can not only set you back, but take a great deal of time and effort to un-do, and can even cause physical pain or damage. I can't understate the importance of selecting a guitar teacher who has extensive experience with physical technique, and how it can free the guitarist from sluggish learning, frustration and most musical limits in their playing. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I rose to become section leader of the clarinet section in band and section leader of the alto section in choir. Since then, I have been teaching private lessons to students of all different ages and skill levels, as well as individuals with disabilities. Encouraging practice schedules and routine is something I like to emphasize in younger students. I aim to bring my students individual musical interests into our class as that tends to keep them more engaged. Read More
