I always start with the absolute foundation and fundamentals of music. I find when I start teaching students that have taken lessons previously, there are many holes in their understanding of their respective instrument and understanding of music in general. Consistency and steady progression is vital. What method books I recommend vary depending on the instrument and will be discussed prior to the first lesson. I encourage all students to come prepared with pencils, folder, staff paper and approved method book. Read More

For 10 years I have held a private studio where I teach students of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels including very advanced children and adult beginners. My teaching style is tailored for each student as everyone is an individual and we all learn at different rates and require different techniques. I do however have a few principals that carry over to all students. First and foremost music should be fun! Read More

My first ever performance was at a piano recital as a 6-year old. By the 5th grade I was performing with a genuine garage band, making our debut performance headlining at our elementary schools talent show. From that time forward I've been in countless multifarious bands and have been performing music in some form or other ever since. I have performed with and sat in for some of the finest NY metro area musicians including the late great Melvin Sparks, Scott Spray (Johnny Winter), Scott Lebish (James Brown) Gil Paris and Jeff Smith. My main goal in educating is to help a student develop a true passion for music. I strive to help a student, any age, better understand music theory and technique so that music can remain a part of their life and so that they have the tools to explore different genres as their tastes broaden. By being a positive and dependable resource in a students musical life I help students reach goals at a pace effective for them and hope to inspire musical growth long after the lesson is completed. My teaching experience dates back to since I was 16 years old. I've been playing the guitar and singing since I was 12, so after 4 years of experience and a lot of practice it was suggested that I should also teach others what I've learned. I started as a volunteer teacher in a clinic, to then teach in the student's own house and charging for it. The key point to learning fast is practicing a little bit VERY often, so that the brain can assimilate what it is learning. Read More

I also stress proper technique and excersises to make sure my student is growing as a guitarist and as a musician. I like to give adult students flexibility and I like to make the lessons fun and interesting. All students will have repertoire according to their abilities to help motivate them and let them know they have achieved something for themselves. My overall teaching goal is to make sure that my student is having fun! Read More
