My lessons are organized around a few core elements: fundamentals, technique, note-reading, and repertoire. For all students, grasping the fundamentals of pitch and rhythm is essential, so exercises that continually reinforce these fundamental skills are a typical first order of business for each weekly lesson. Simultaneously, I guide the student through proper posture, form, breathing, and mental preparation. For children, and any adolescents or adults who are truly serious about music, I encourage the development of sight-reading skills for musical literacy. Read More

I am a guitarist of 11 years, mostly self-taught. I started learning with the RI Philharmonic music program, then learned on my own by playing with my church band and playing my favorite rock albums by ear. I studied Recording Arts at Full Sail University, which gave me a deeper understanding of the process behind music production, and gave me exposure to new kinds of music to expand my pallette of musical expression. If someone asked me what's my favorite type of music, I now simply show them my Spotify playlist as it's gotten to the point where I can't pinpoint a single favorite, and the amount of music I've heard is too much to describe simply.Having returned to my home state of Rhode Island, I continue to play with my church band and continue to heighten my skills as a guitarist, with the hopes of writing my own original material and continue to invest the gift of music in those around me. Later, as a violist, I was a founding member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra "Raimundo Pereira" (One of the Orchestras of "The Sistema") in Venezuela. I studied lyrical and popular song with Masters William Alvarado and Inés Feo La Cruz. I have two records production, the first, named Por el Medio Oriente, it is a musical project that fuses the sounds and rhythms prevalent in Middle Eastern music and culture and the second named Preludio y Coda, a romantic CD. Depending on the level of the student and what they are looking to achieve through the lessons I would use a few different methods. I like to use guitar books if at all possible for beginners because its a great place to start. The fundamentals are where you have to start to build a scaffolding and practice books are great for doing this. I also like to use songs and tunes as a way of teaching different concepts. Read More

A class once or twice a week is beneficial I believe for keeping up the continuity of practice. We will work on first the guitar as an instrument, basic chords, chord structures, some basic scales, and over time making chord changes happen as the minds memory/muscle memory for remembering chords grows! This is crucial for making the basic song happen. I encourage my students to find a handful of songs they really enjoy and may want to learn, so that we can learn them piece by peice. Read More
