My passion and dedication for teaching led me to design a highly successful personal method, which both the beginning learner and those with a more advanced level will discover in my own notes, the answer to what will lead them to develop and grow artistically with the guitar. I also use methods and books from Hal leonard, Mel Bay and Alfred publications, as part of the contents if necessary for the development of the lessons. Read More

I tailor my lessons to fit each individual student's needs and goals, and am comfortable teaching both traditional classical music as well as various other modern genres. I typically use the Alfred books for children who are just starting out, gradually introducing solo repertoire as they progress. For adults, I use materials relating to whatever stylistic or technical goals they may have. Read More

Rewind to the year 1996. I was in a local music store looking at the bulletin board looking for a band/bandmates. One index card caught my attention in particular: "Looking for someone to teach my 15 year old son guitar, can pay $20.00 an hour." I took the card and raced home and called her. Regardless of their ages, I always attempt to establish what a student's interests in music are as well as their background and present faculties if applicable. From there, I attempt to develop an understanding of musical fundamentals (pitch, rhythm, timbre, dynamics) as they apply to their interests. It is crucial in my opinion to connect these essential elements of music to the context of a student's musical world. I have several books that I use regularly for examples and also, I write individual exercises for more specific issues with a student's technique and approach. Read More

I began teaching guitar lessons at the early age of 17, and have continued to make private instruction a mainstay of my professional career ever since. Working with students across all ages and abilities, in my home studio or travelling to them, my passion for teaching has only grown over time. I find no greater delight than seeing the smile on the face of a new student who is getting those first few chords under their fingers, or helping an advanced student tackle a tricky riff or progression. My philosophy is to teach the student what they want to learn while including basic music theory. I feel it’s important they know what they are doing from the inside out and why. I plan performance opportunities for the students month. This gives each student a tangible goal to work toward. I emphasize that music is another language we can communicate with. Every time we practice we perfect our ability to communicate more fully. Read More
