I'm a passionate musician and teacher and would love to be your instructor! My love and experience is primarily in guitar, voice, and piano. I graduated from Gordon college in 2008 with a degree in music education and taught K-8 grade for several years, which included directing children's choirs, teaching private lessons, and teaching general music to many ages. Teaching keyboard and singing was a highlight in the classroom setting. After a few years of teaching I became a mom and have transitioned from full time teaching to raise my three girls. Read More

The lesson is really up to the student. i can show them the fundememntals if asked but i much prefer to guage what the student already knows and teach them whatever area theyre interested in. my lessons are never overbearing or rushed and the student is given as much time as they need per lesson to grasp and utilise a concept. my job really isto tailor mylessons for the students enjoyment and progress;and i love seeing the progress!! While still in college, I was a music tutor at North Star in Hadley For two years. I worked one-on-one with students in middle school on both voice and guitar. During my time there, I taught kids anything from different chords on the guitar, to breath support and passion in one's singing, to vocal improvisation and stage confidence. I've been away from teaching for a couple of years, but with the a Capella group, I have to accommodate for twelve different people and their learning styles. Read More

I have found that the basics are the most important part of music. Even issues in more advanced players can be addressed by filling the gaps in a students knowledge of the fundamentals. I also strongly emphasise a student's ear training as that really opens up the instrument to them, allowing for more intuitive playing and improved creativity. I tend to cater to the students needs, and can also create simple backing tracks for students to practice the concepts that have been covered in the lesson. Read More

I have a deep and passionate love for all things music, whether it's teaching, performing, writing, or listening, and I love being able to share that with my students. I did my undergrad program at UMass Lowell and have achieved my Bachelors degree in Music Studies. I currently still attend the University, where I am striving to get my Masters degree in Music Teaching. Outside of school I enjoy writing and recording my own music, and I occasionally play live shows when I can. Read More

I typically use Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method for beginning guitarists and the Suzuki Method for beggining pianists. For students first learning music, I make sure to include solo pieces that the student is interested in and other custom written fundamental lessons in addition to these resources. Once they reach the point that they have a solid grasp of their instrument, we focus more closely on learning pieces and concepts that reflect musical situations in which the students sees themselves; be it playing solo, playing and singing, accompanying other instrumentalists or vocalists, or playing in an ensemble or band. I have taught guitar since high school. I have had a ranging experience from teaching middle schoolers, to high schoolers, to adults. With each student, I assess where they are with their knowledge of the instrument, as well as how far their passion for music goes. In high school, I simply taught the fundamentals of the guitar as I knew it, making sure that my students played guitar correctly. As I grew musically and in my teaching methods, I understood that mixing in songs that my students knew into their lessons actually boosted the desire to play, and also made my job more efficient in conveying the reasons for good fundamentals while allowing a student to enjoy playing guitar.
