I have hosted the Westchester, NY Musika recital for two years. I am a passionate and engaging instructor. I have taught all age levels and backgrounds and work to connect students to the music they love and help them realize their own voice at their instrument. I have composed music for lots of films and am constantly working on my craft. I teach classical and jazz and pop as well as how to read chord changes, charts and creating your own demos and songs. I have been teaching in the areas of greater New York City and Long Island for the last 12 years. Making a student's musical aspirations has always been a great source of joy for me. Mainly, I focus on building a student's repertoire of his or her favorite music, so that practice can be a source of expression and actualization instead of obligation and drudgery. Once the student has started exploring their musical preferences, we can continue developing perfect technique, as well as practical improvisation and theory. Read More

I have been teaching in the Upstate N.Y. area for over 10 years now. Of course as a teacher I always encourage a regular practice regiment, while also teaching every student as an individual with various different needs for them to focus on. Read More

In my opinion a big part of playing music is being creative, and a big part of being creative is having fun. When teaching I always make sure there is a positive environment that encourages learning and growth. I have found the best way for a student to learn and improve is by having so much fun playing that they can't put the instrument down. This excitement about music and learning is what I prioritize the most. Read More

I use a variety of different pedagogical approaches from Music for the Classroom - Kodaly and Orff methodology, to series like Hal Leonard, the Music Tree (Frances Clark), Piano Adventures (Randall and Nancy Faber), John Thompson and Alfred's Piano Basics. In Voice, my approach is ecclectic but effective, drawing from traditional Classical approaches & vocal building techniques to some of the latest ideas and discoveries on developing a beauty of sound and a solid foundation in the control of the breath. I cater the lessons towards what the student wants while emphasizing the importance of fundamentals and theory. I incorporate songwriting and improvisation into my lessons, as well as songs the student wants to learn. I believe all students should be encouraged to be creative, while still maintaining a strong emphasis on fundamentals, thus leading to the creation of their unique musical style. I generally tend to split the lessons up into warm up techniques, repertoire, sight reading, listening/dictation, discussing music the student likes/wants to learn, and improvisation and songwriting.
