I am a motivated instructor that has an ability to target problem areas in a student . I take pedagogy seriously and focus on proper technique and eliminating bad habits . I was Vice President of New York City classical guitar society and loved to recruit some of the best guitarists in the world . I loved teaching and giving masterclasses. Music is everything to me and I take teaching it very seriously and hope that my students also dedicate much time to this beautiful instrument that is one of the most demanding.
I have been teaching for over 18 years and was Vice President of New York City classical guitar society where I recruited top musicians and also performed and gave masterclasses . In addition, I have performed in festivals around the world and in 2020, I will be going to Middle East and Europe to give a series of recitals and classes. Teaching is a huge responsibility and should be taken seriously. There is nothing worse than a bad teacher and I always make sure that I take care in each of my students
For beginners, I like to focus on proper position and proper technique. This is done by making sure students sit properly and we will begin strengthening right hand and left hand via arpeggios and simple etudes Aimed to focus on these areas . For example , Mauro Giuliani’s 120 etudes for right hand and other methods like carcassi and we will advance as time comes. For flamenco , we start with basic techniques of flamenco , rasgueado, alzapua and arpeggios . We will exercise flexor and extensor tendons in hands via exercises that target this for flamenco players.
I focus on making sure student is comfortable and not lost at any point . Realistic expectations are important and we will assess these case by case. Pedagogy is extremely important to me as the future of many players is in the hands of a good teacher or a bad one. A bad teacher will harm a student and a good teacher will make sure no bad habits are developed . We will try and make it as fun as possible but classical guitar and flamenco guitar are very demanding so lots of practice is encouraged to maximize your results .
