For over 6 years now, I have been teaching flute within different contexts. Some of the most meaningful teaching experiences I have had have taught me about the unique relationship we each have with the art of music. Private lessons have provided an outlet to encourage and guide individuals based on their needs; educational outreach concerts have given me the opportunity to address easy and complex subjects according to the audience in front of me; masterclasses have given me the opportunity to help individuals gain a strong sense of confidence from a foundation of understanding while nurturing the audience's curiosity regarding music; and working as a Teaching Artist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra has brought all these elements of teaching and learning to a brand new level that has only strengthened my foundation as a teacher. I made region band every year after that and earned 1st divisions on all my ensembles and solos. I played 1st tenor in the jazz band in High School and started to think I could do this for a long time. For young beginners, I make use the method book that is being used at their school as well as supplying materials specifically for their instrument. As the student progresses, he/she will be introduced to solo repertoire as well advance method books for recital and competitive purposes. The biggest joy in teaching and working with students is seeing them develop a passion and love for music. My teaching experience is very hands on and I love to model everything that I teach. It's important for my students to progress at his or her own pace and I encourage this by setting goals for my students at each lesson. Music has been my life for so long and it is my passion! I started reading sheet music when I was 4. I started to learn Piano when I was 5. At age 7 I started learning basic Music Theory. At age 10, I began my journey with Flute and I have been playing ever since! I have played with the Arlington Community Orchestra, Flower Mound Philharmonic Orchestra, Flower Mound Flute Choir, TWU Wind Symphony, TWU Flute Choir, TWU Jazz band, TWU Pep band, and recently became a sub for the Mesquite Symphony.  Read More
