Music has been my life for so long and it is my passion! I started reading sheet music when I was 4. I started to learn Piano when I was 5. At age 7 I started learning basic Music Theory. At age 10, I began my journey with Flute and I have been playing ever since! I have played with the Arlington Community Orchestra, Flower Mound Philharmonic Orchestra, Flower Mound Flute Choir, TWU Wind Symphony, TWU Flute Choir, TWU Jazz band, TWU Pep band, and recently became a sub for the Mesquite Symphony. For beginners, I use Rebecca Simonfalvi's called "Potential Contender." It is geared for young children starting out in band. For adults, I generally move between Trevor Wye's "Beginners book for the flute" or the Rubank Elementary Method. If needed, especially with the young, I generally have my students take notes of lessons. I also teach basic theory to give students a deeper understanding of the music. For the advanced student, the focus becomes about fine-tuning fundamentals, and learning repertoire that will propel them forward to the next level. Read More

I have been a music educator in the public schools for over 40 years having taught in Austin, Texas and currently in Fort Worth, Texas. Many of my students have gone to play their instruments in college bands throughout the state. Several former students are currently teaching music at the secondary and college level. I do not approach my teaching to focus on a student's future as a musician. All make individual choices on musical endeavors. Read More

In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. Piano has always been an important influence in my musical performances and I believe it is a gateway to interest in other instruments, so I truly enjoy teaching it! Read More

I believe that it is important to tailor lessons to my individual students, helping to foster a love of music and learning. I think it is important for my students to have goals that they are striving to achieve. They can be big goals, like making it into a college of choice, but I also think small ones are important, like mastering the Bb major scale. We work towards goals and celebrate accomplishments together to help drive each student's passion. Read More

They had a tenor sax that they let me play and I was hooked! I made the top ensemble after my first semester and never looked back. I made region band every year after that and earned 1st divisions on all my ensembles and solos. I played 1st tenor in the jazz band in High School and started to think I could do this for a long time. I got a scholarship to UTA and marched with them for a few years while I concentrated on classical saxophone and studied jazz. Read More
