During my college years, I was a scholarship singer at First Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Sam Houston State University Chorale. Past experiences include singing with the UTB/TSC Master chorale, with which he performed at the Texas Music Educators Association. My teaching experience began when I completed my degree in Music Education 10 years ago. Since that time I have been teaching private lessons to students of all ages. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to meet my students where they are in their development, and prescribe exercises, repertoire, and information that will help the student with each of their individual needs and goals. During college, I studied Italian, French, and German which have helped me in singing and teaching music in these languages. I also had the opportunity to do a study abroad Opera program with Oberlin in Italy where I was able to study with teachers from the Eastman School of Music. I have been teaching private voice since 1991.  Along with teaching privately out of my home, over the years I have served on faculty as an adjunct voice professor at the college and university level, and have taught private voice in school districts for their junior high and high school choirs.  My own children study with me and are performing regularly in musical theater productions and choirs.  I love helping singers discover their beautiful, God-given singing voice and watching it blossom as they consistently practice and apply the techniques. I am passionate about communicating through music and training others to achieve their full potential as a musician. I have served in twelve different churches over the years as a Minister of Music, and am still serving in that capacity. This has involved directing vocal choirs and ensembles of all ages, directing handbell and handchime choirs, and directing seasonal musicals and pageants.
