Teaching is one of my passions in music and I have a long-extending background in this discipline with almost 20 years of music experience as a performer and over 6 years as a teacher. In July 2020, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As stated in my bio my teaching experience especially given my age is extremely extensive. I started teaching saxophone at the age of 14 as a volunteer in the Songcatchers program in New Rochelle, a service that provided free private lessons to children who couldn't afford them. This fosters a sense of pride in their achievements and keeps them motivated to learn and explore new horizons in music. I'm enthusiastic about teaching both piano and saxophone, and I'm open to working with students of all ages. The first few lessons will focus on discovering our goals as one team: student, teacher and parents. We will have an open conversation about specific aspects of the flute and music that each student would like to improve as well as identifying their strengths. I use a variety of teaching methods, based on my own experience as a performer that I gained throughout long years of international education. I usually start my beginner students with Flute 101 Mastering the Basics method book, followed with the selection of scales and technical exercises of my creation and a repertoire selection (including etudes) matching the skills progression. Practice expectation is 30-45 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. YEARS 6-8: LATE INTERMEDIATE/EARLY ADVANCED LEVEL Students who stay in lessons for this long have a skill set that sets them up for the rest of their lives. There is a level of mastery achieved that allows for incredible freedom to learn whatever one might want; Classical, Jazz, Pop, or otherwise. Student music requests are expected. My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school, when I began teaching beginning students of all instruments 10 years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes, my home, and online for the past 5 years.
