Whatever the student is interested in, that is the direction we go in, whether specific or not.. we start with your interests.. beginners, we learn songs, intermediates.. scales, and soloing, advanced.. reading, theory, and composition. I am very song oriented, and we choose based upon the students taste, the songs to learn.. Then we do a lot on practice habits, repetition, metronome use, timing, right hand relaxation, posture, left hand correction. Read More

Private lessons with an interest in the students interest. The student has to be excited to learn the techniques to begin with. This is especially true with recording techniques using DAW's. Many students who pursue this already have an interest. Because if this the teaching and learning process is greatly amplified and learning can sometimes even go both ways. When teaching drums I approach every lesson like it is new. Read More

My teaching style is focused and intentional. I take into account every student and her or his needs. That being the case, I create detailed plans for the students week as far as practice is concerned. There will be listenings on each weeks assignments, detailed notes so as to make sure the student has all the necessary information to best succeed during the week between lessons. The best way to learn is to teach someone what you have learned. Read More

A music student should be able to practice and perform as though no one is watching, and that it is simply the spontaneous expression of the soul! For this, I have to curate material and instruction so that it is authentic and engaging to the student - this is what unlocks the truest connection to musicianship. I believe that high-level training is the diligent pursuit of quality and detail - and that talent is simply how one approaches ANY new material. Read More

It is important to me that every student remembers that despite all the hard work and practice involved in learning an instrument, the ultimate goal is to have fun and to connect with other through music. I want to my students to feel relaxed, and unafraid to ask questions of make mistakes. I emphasize the importance of regular practice, but I also want my students to get to know themselves well, to progress at their own pace, and to really find joy in the journey that is learning to play music! I have now been giving private lessons for around 8 years and enjoy it very much. I love to help people grow and watch them enjoy the gift they have. In my lessons, students learn techniques, concepts, musicianship, rudiments/fundamentals, and much more. I resigned from a job in 2015 to pursue my music career which includes teaching drums. I have a passion that I will always be greatful for, and I'm happy to say that the right doors are opening for me to teach in many different places. Read More
