I began teaching at the Xavier University Junior School of Music (Louisiana) at the age of 18. My teaching experience now spans 30 years. While most of my teaching, over the years, has been primarily private, I also have several years of classroom teaching experience. I enjoy teaching music because I believe that it is one of the most endearing methods of sharing information. One of my motto's is that I am an educator first, music is simply the vehicle by which I choose to educate. It brings me pure joy when I share information with a student, whether it be music realated or not, and see that light in their eyes shine because they have received something meaningful, that may make a difference in their lives.

I am a singing-actor who enjoys performing and passing on my knowledge of singing to others.  I graduated from the University of Southern California twice, earning both my masters and bachelors degrees from the Thornton School of Music in vocal performance.  My career so far as given me wonderful opportunties to sing in Europe and in well respected music festivals in the United States, such as the Aspen Music Festival.

I studied music at University of California, Santa Barbara, where I received my B.A. I currently work as a professional singer for various local opera companies, music theater groups, churches and temples. I have worked extensively in Los Angeles schools performing musical assemblies for students in elementary and middle grades. My teaching experience includes private voice lessons and master classes at Idyllwild School for the Arts.I emphasize breathing techniques to free up the voice to expand your range and ease of singing. In the lesson, we start with simple warm ups and vocalizes and then apply techniques to the songs you want to sing. I realize each student is different and I customize the lesson to the student's particular needs. I specialize in classical and music theater, however the basics of singing apply to all styles of music. In addition to working on breathing and technique for singing, we'll also focus on interpretation of the songs you are working on. I also teach beginning piano, using the John W. Schaum series.

I approach teaching by focusing on the student. I find out what they need and want first. We set realistic goals together and I give them the tools to help them reach their goals. I don't want my students to be entirely dependent on me. I like to give them exercises to do on their own in between lessons so that time doesn't go to waste and they can see quicker improvement with their own practicing.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
