As the student progresses, he/she will be introduced to solo repertoire as well advance method books for recital and competitive purposes. I like to use Trevor Wye's methods when I teach. I own the 6 volumes and I recommend that my students buy at least one of his books as well. For more advanced players, I introduce Paul Edmund-Davies' Daily Exercises. I stress the importance of long tones for the effect they can have on a flautist's tone, color, volume, etc. As mentioned before, I will also encourage students to enter competitions and/or find another opportunity to perform their piece in front of an audience/judges panel. I take an individualized approach based on learning styles and strengths. I believe in positive reinforcement, especially with younger students! Im Bailee! Im a dedicated and passionate flute player. I am currently a junior at the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Flute Performance! I was in marching band from 2015-2022 at both my high school and my university. Throughout high school, I regularly did All-Region auditions, State Solo and Ensemble, joined flute choirs, and attended summer camps for my instrument. As for university, I have won scholarships for the Texas Flute Society, have participated and performed at the Texas Flute Society festival, and I am currently playing in the UTA Symphony Orchestra.
