I typically structure my lessons based on each individual student and their level of commitment. Some of my students want to go to college for music performance, and others just want to sound better in their school's band. I take that into account when choosing particular warmups and repertoire. With the piano books there are also theory workbooks that give them a chance to think about what they are actually doing when it comes to making music. I graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible Collage and took my flute lessons at Belmont University. I have had the privilege of playing with several groups including; the Tupelo MS symphony orchestra, Belmont orchestra, the Belmont Opera company, the Nashville Philharmonic and the Philharmonic flute choir. I have accompanied several choirs, and played at several weddings. I started teaching some younger players in High School, and after that I focused on getting my own skill in the upward projectory. Above all else, music is supposed to be fun. I want my students to be excited about learning new things each week. Music is also a collaborative practice, so I think it is important for the student and the teacher to play together in a supportive environment to help reaffirm the week's lesson.
