I am very passionate and dedicated about my playing. It is not easy but the end result is well worth the effort. I graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible Collage in 2008 with my Bachelor of Art in flute performance I also took my flute lessons at Belmont University. Since then I've played in various mediums, and really got a greater appreciation in slowly frogressing in my sucsess as a flute player. whilebi never thought I'd be a teacher, it's always a wonderful feeling to pass down the tradition of good flute playing. I typically structure my lessons based on each individual student and their level of commitment. Some of my students want to go to college for music performance, and others just want to sound better in their school's band. I take that into account when choosing particular warmups and repertoire. I always begin my lessons with a few duets with my students. This helps strengthen the student's sight reading skills and it also gives them a chance to hear me play. Read More

This has taught me much of the psychology of music and performance. Each student has their own personal goals for their exploration of music. Read More

For all students I try to incorporate all elements of music by including appropriate amounts music history and theory into my lessons. For beginners, I tend to utilize Trevor Wye exercises, and slowly incorporate small musical pieces. Although tedious, I believe that scales and etudes make students technically and musically proficient. I therefore include them in my lessons, but ensure the students are gaining the benefit of these exercises. I like to approach lessons from a wholistic standpoint, putting an emphasis on a student's posture, breathing and attitude. Read More

I have been teaching privately for about four years. Most recently, I was awarded the Graduate Teaching Position at Bemont University for my final semester. I was in charge of weekly instruction for seven students, conducting both classical and commercial seminars, and leading Jazz Band and Small Group. I make it a point to have a healthy balance between the student's interests as a player as well as what I feel are essential qualities inherent in the instrument's performance practice. Read More
