In 2012 I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies. Since then, I have moved to Nashville, earned my Master's Degree from Belmont University in 2014, and have began my professional career as a freelance saxophonist. I have had the chance to perform and record in some of Nashville's most historic venues and recording studios. I started teaching in 2009 in Mississippi. I taught 6th grade band (beginner), 7th grade band, and high school. I taught in Mississippi for 5 years and just recently moved to Tennessee. While teaching, I've given private lessons to some of my students after school and to some students who did not attend my school. I have given lessons before when I was in high school. Each student works and learns at their own pace. For beginners, the basics are explored. As they grow more confident we work on more particular subjects like tone, scales, proper breathing. Practice is a must, the will not get anywhere they want to be without constant practice.
