My teaching experience dates back to when I was 16 years old and started teaching students from the church that I played piano at. I've been teaching full time since I was 25 years old, and I love teaching. I believe students progress faster when they are learning to play their favorite songs, and are having fun with learning to play the piano. I also encourage students to learn to improvise and compose their own music by teaching them composition, harmony, rhythm, and practicing to backing tracks. Read More

For adults, I use a heavy emphasis on training the ear and understanding music in "the bigger picture". It's critical to not just see a bunch of notes or chords, but to be able to analyze why those notes/chords fall where they do and what relation they have to each other, and to the song as a whole. The next step is to use that knowledge and apply it to improvisation and composition. Read More

I have been around music practically since I was born, as my parents were both professional musicians and our house was constantly filled with the sounds of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. I initially decided to study piano and violin performance but changed my focus to education and teaching. As a passionate musician, I have enjoyed playing in symphony orchestras through the years, and I've found that being part of a group of people whose purpose is to produce a beautiful work of art is one of the most enjoyable experiences one can have. Behind every good concert artist is a fabulous music educator. Having had my share of world class instructors, I understand the significant role that a teacher plays in the emotional, mental, and musical development of a student. In Nashville, I play for special events at the Nashville Symphony and at private events and galas in the Greater Nashville Area. In France, I studied with world famous artists and pedagogues, earning a teaching legacy that is only five piano professors away from Ludwig van Beethoven. Read More

For beginners, I typically start students off with the suzuki books to build technique, but I teach them from the classical perspective rather than the suzuki method. With intermediate and advanced students, i will introduce solo repertoire appropriate for recital performance and/or a commercial piece (fiddle tunes, pop songs, etc) that the student is interested in learning. Fiddle is my specialty, but I also teach classical violin and even my fiddle students will learn classical technique. Read More
