Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Viola Trumpet
I've taught piano and violin for many years and enjoy the rewards and the challenges of working with students and having them learn the skills to both enjoy and succeed in music. I have also spent a number of years as music director for several different schools and churches working with choirs and handbells. I have found that when students are motivated and inspired there is practically no limit to what they can accomplish, and helping to provide that inspiration is one of my greatest goals, and why I enjoy teaching. I am a positive and dedicated musician and music teacher who has a unique background of formal classical training and experience in various other genres. I have 12 years of classical training on the violin, have taught private violin and viola lessons to more than 300 students over the course of 6 summers through the Hempfield School District, participated in the NAfME All-Eastern Orchestra, performed for a year as the bluegrass and old-time fiddler in the Joe Hillman Band (Philadelphia, PA), performed as the celtic fiddler in The Ogham Stones (Lancaster, PA) for one year, and have led my own band for 2 years as a singer, songwriter and guitar player. Instruments: Violin Bass Guitar
Under these teachers I've been fortunate to travel all over the country playing violin, one such location being Carnegie Hall for the crescendo competition. In recent years, I am currently now at Lipscomb University where I'm studying Biochemistry and Music. At Lipscomb, I continued to develop my music education but in a different fashion. I studied bass under Rob Byus, Blake Shelton's bass player. I was selected to play for Lipscomb's jazz, and commercial ensembles as a bass player and chosen to be part of the Avalon quartet as a violist. Read More

For beginners, I typically start students off with the suzuki books to build technique, but I teach them from the classical perspective rather than the suzuki method. With intermediate and advanced students, i will introduce solo repertoire appropriate for recital performance and/or a commercial piece (fiddle tunes, pop songs, etc) that the student is interested in learning. Fiddle is my specialty, but I also teach classical violin and even my fiddle students will learn classical technique. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola
I want all of my students to enjoy playing their instruments and develop a deep love for music. I help my students set realistic and achievable goals both short term and long term. It is also important that students are aware of the progress that is made, no matter how big or small! Read More
Instruments: Violin Banjo Fiddle
My teaching style is relaxed, but determined. I want lessons to be fun and inspirational rather than scary and demoralizing. You should look forward to your lesson each week and come away from it feeling inspired to work harder and check out some great recordings. Read More

For my beginning students, I typically start with either Essential Elements 2000 for strings or Sound Innovations. Both books give younger students a grasp on the fundamentals of technique. As they grow I then introduce solo repertoire by using the Suzuki Books but also like to add a fiddle book. Sometimes students gradually go either to fiddle or to classical. I try and encourage what they are more comfortable with. For adults, I try to find out what genre of music they enjoy and try to gauge their ability level with a couple playing evaluations. Read More
