I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Furman University in Greenville, SC and received my Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University in Boston, MA. I began teaching private lessons in 2005, and I have a variety of teaching experiences. I have since substitute taught every kind of subject, and I've taught general music K-5.  I have mentored conservatory level students when I was in grad school, I taught flute to non-flute music education majors, and I've taught undergraduate students that were pre-music.  I taught 3-8 year olds music at Laurel Hill Summer Camp in East Setauket, Long Island. I've also taught workshops on South American Folk Music with Alturs Duo, as well as flute masterclasses. For my voice students I prefer to work within genres that the student likes; I did not like being forced to sing certain songs when I was studying voice, so I would not want to do that to anyone else! My flute students I like to work with the Rubank method books - from beginner to advanced; they offer the most comprehensive approach to playing the flute. My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church.
