Music has been my life for so long and it is my passion! I started reading sheet music when I was 4. I started to learn Piano when I was 5. At age 7 I started learning basic Music Theory. At age 10, I began my journey with Flute and I have been playing ever since! I have played with the Arlington Community Orchestra, Flower Mound Philharmonic Orchestra, Flower Mound Flute Choir, TWU Wind Symphony, TWU Flute Choir, TWU Jazz band, TWU Pep band, and recently became a sub for the Mesquite Symphony.
I began teaching private flute lessons in 1988. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000, and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I now reside in Keller, Texas and have opened my flute studio to online students and the Keller/Fort Worth area. I am excited about teaching online because that allows me to reach students that I would never meet otherwise.
I'm a former "Talent Grant" student of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in The Netherlands. I have performed a wide variety of works ranging in style from Marin Marais to Maurizio Pisati. As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, I can be found performing in venues all over the world from the Bass Hall in Ft. Worth to Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. I specalize in contemporary music as well as 18th and 19th historical performance. My former teachers also come from diverse and international backgrounds, most of them performing with the top orchestras and conductors across the world. They include Marieke Schneemann, Kersten McCall, Vincent Cortvrint, Harrie Starreveld, Marten Root, Terri Sundberg, Jan Crisanti, LeeAnne Thompson and Christina Jennings.
By customizing each student's instruction I make sure they acquire the basic fundamentals first, emphasizing theory, hand placement, posture, etc. I especially like utilizing the Bastien beginner method books but have also used Faber and Alfred. I also include the Music Theory workbook for all age levels. Praise goes a long way and I believe encouragement is a big key every little step of the way. Each student has their own way of expression so I try to teach to that avenue. For intermediate to advanced students I prefer Czerny and Hanon exercises along with the Scale Skills books.
I began teaching part time when I was in college. After moving to Dallas, I continued to teach part time while attending graduate school. Upon graduation, I began teaching full time during the day at public schools and evenings in my own studio. Encouraging reguler practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for my students. This tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the flute. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the flute and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't enjoyingi their lessons, then I'm not doing my job.

Our recommended age for beginning flute lessons is age 8. Most school music programs begin introducing the woodwind instruments in 4th grade. If a young student is eager to begin flute lessons early, consider recorder lessons. The fingering on the recorder is the same as the flute, but the instrument is much easier to hold and produce a sound.
For a beginning flutist, Musika suggests renting an instrument at first, and purchasing later on if the student enjoys and wants to continue playing long-term. Yamaha is a really reliable brand, and Armstrong or Gemeinhardt are also solid choices. Once the student progresses, he or she could look into purchasing a more advanced model with open hole keys and a B foot joint.
New flutists will learn the basics of caring for the instrument, as well as how to hold and properly assemble the flute. Students will learn correct breathing, how to develop a beautiful tone, the ins and outs of articulation, and how to form the proper embouchure. All Musika students will be exposed to music theory and the process of reading music.
On of Musika's unique offers is that we provide in-home lessons for no additional cost. This allows the student to save the time and money that would normally be spent traveling to a studio.
Many of our adult flute students are complete beginners, while others are former flutists now returning to an old hobby. We also have students who are more advanced and are looking to take their skills in to the next level. Our network of teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.

My 4 year old son is quite energetic. Another piano teacher tried to teach him before Peter and could not get my son to listen to him at all. That teacher told me that my son had no interest and that we needed to wait before having my son take lessons. Peter started teaching my son a few weeks later. He quickly developed a great rapport with my son. I was astounded when my son sat down and listened to Peter during the first lesson. Peter has remarkable patience and is a natural working with children. He knows when to follow the child's lead. My son is very interested in how the piano works, so Peter takes the time to teach him about this. He is able to use my son's interests (superheroes, Lego, Star Wars, etc.) to refocus him back to playing the piano. Between lessons, he brainstorms on how he can teach my son better. For example, my son was playing the notes, but not understanding rhythm, so Peter looked into it and came back the next week with a new plan which helped. My son looks forward to his lesson every week. When he hears the doorbell ring on lesson day, he exclaims, "Yay! Peter's here!"

Ed is THE best instructor I've ever had and I've had many instructors over the years in various fields of study. Ed met us at a music store to help choose a guitar, this is after he first called and asked all the right questions. He's supplied my daughter with just the right amount of paper work and just the right amount of new techniques. By this I mean to say that Ed connects with the pace my daughter learns at. I highly recommend Ed AND Musika.

Darrell is A-Maz-Ing! He demands results from his students and therefore results come quickly. The time he spends teaching is intense and packed with great instruction. He is a tough teacher but offers lots of valuable instruction that is applicable for music as well as life in general. I highly recommend Darrell if you are ready for results!

Rebecca has been super with my son! He is 8yrs old and has mild aspergers. He has never played an instrument before but after one lesson with his teacher he could keep a beat on his drums. She is able to keep his attention and really makes it fun! She is flexible and easy going. I highly recommend her for any lessons. Very nice teacher! Thank you Rebecca for your outstanding service!!

Having taken 6 years of piano lessons myself when I was young, I am very happy with Osmond teaching my daughter. He is very personable and helping her to enjoy piano. My daughter loves the fun songs she gets to play and I really appreciate how he is integrating even in the first month fingering, chords, beats, and hearing the music. She's getting a very well rounded training and she's loving it!

My son is truly enjoying his lessons with Chris. He looks forward to them and is motivated to practice. Chris is conscientious and shows up on time and whenever he is supposed to. He communicates clearly if rescheduling is ever required and is accommodating when we need to change the day. I would recommend Chris to anyone.

Kevin was such a fun, smart and innovative voice teacher to work with. I had the pleasure of taking lessons with him for over a year and I couldn’t have been more pleased with my time under his training. In just a few weeks I noticed my voice was stronger and I was able to apply his teaching and see the results. He explains his techniques in a way that the student is able to actually hear and feel the changes he is referring to. This allows the student to efficiently practice outside of lessons. Even further, he believed in me and truly cared about my progress. He was always energetic and focused in lessons and was continually surprised how far a song could come in just one hour of his time. Under his teaching I developed a stronger belt in my higher range, learned how to color my voice for different sounds and improved my stage presence. I wholeheartedly trust Kevin’s musical insight and was grateful that he challenged me with a wide variety of songs and styles that I hadn’t considered trying before.

I would like to thank Polina for the series of classical piano lessons I've taken recently. Polina is a fantastic teacher and a high class performer, and I'm really happy I had a chance to meet her! I believe anyone can benefit from the teaching method Polina is practicing regardless of the student proficiency - from beginners to advanced performers. It was a pleasure for me to study classical piano courses under the guidance of such an intelligent & professional teacher! Without doubt, my playing technique has improved a lot and I have signed up for the new classes online already.

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Rachel. We met her through CYT where my daughter took theater classes from Rachel and was directed by Rachel in several musicals. Because Rachel was so wonderful to work with and so clearly talented at teaching and directing, several years ago, my daughter started private vocal lesson with her and I have seen my daughter's vocal abilities grow in leaps and bounds. Rachel is an ace at picking music to work on that stretches abilities while at the same time, keeps vocal lessons fun. I highly recommend her as a voice and theater coach.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
