My teaching experience began in college when I worked as a student volunteer in the Kean University Chamber Music ensemble. I worked with the vocalists in sectionals as well as one adult beginner flute player who I am good friends with. I later became the student assistant for that same ensemble my last semester in undergraduate as I continued to give critique and work with the flute student who was just starting, on the flute fundamentals such as sound, breathing, scales and long tones. If a student wants to work on one specific style, be it classical, jazz, or pop oriented music, I will show them the music, materials, and methods required for mastery in that subject. My teaching style is focused on playing as much as possible and encouraging good practice habits. The most important thing I can do as a teacher is teach my students good practice habits! This includes showing students not only WHAT to practice, but HOW to practice it. By spending as much time as possible in the lesson playing together, I have found that my students have more fun playing in the lesson, learn more, and in turn practice more during the week! In 2007, I graduated from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Flute Performance and in 2011, I graduated from the Universtiy at Buffalo with a Master's in Music Education (NYS Certified Music Educator). In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy.  I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians.  My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively.  In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I have taught in students' homes and at various music studios in New Brunswick by using the Rubank Method, etude books, and flute repertoire.
