I have over 18 years experience teaching public school. I have also been teaching piano and voice lessons. I love teaching all ages and all levels of students. I have experience working with all genres. I can teach classical, pop, musical theatre, jazz, opera, and others. I encourage regular practice and allow students to pick music that is interesting for them. I enjoy celebrating milestones with my students and encourage them to do their best. Read More

My goal as your teacher is to help bring that natural voice to the forefront of your singing in any genre. Music is an art form of internal expression. I want to make sure that you are expressing yourself in the healthiest and easiest way possible so that the music can speak louder than the workings of your technique. If nobody knows you are working hard, you're doing it right! Read More

It is really rewarding when I see my students develop their passion for music and reach their goals. I tailor my teaching style to my students’ wants and needs and I let each student progress at their own pace. I also think it’s really important to set realistic goals, because acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student’s desire to progress. I focus on technique just as much as developing artistic expression. Read More

While in school, I had the opportunity to student teach at LaGuardia High School. I loved working with the students there. I worked with students in private lessons as well as in choirs. I have coached students for competitions and auditions but also love working with students who are taking lessons for the fun of it! Read More

In high school, I first started working with kids through Special Olympics, mission trips, and church. As an educator, I am soft-spoken, patient, and warm, creating an understanding environment. My expectations of my students, though high, are extremely clear. It is up to the educator to modify for every student. I believes that the importance of music in the schools allows students to connect with each art and more importantly, themselves, foster responsibility, and discover a potential lifelong joy in music making. I have been singing since long before I could carry a tune (ask my poor family!). As I discovered my passion for it I continued to study it in college and graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Music from Rider University. I had the opportunity to study voice with an amazing professor from Westminster Choir College my last few semesters. I've enjoyed singing in different choirs throughout the year. Read More

We also begin work on scales and cadences. Since dexterity and interest in exploring the keyboard usually exceeds note-reading ability. I use a chart to spell out scales and chords instead of a scale book at this point. Students enjoy progressing through the songs and ask for new scales. By the time they've completed "Teaching Little Fingers...." and have learned single-octave C major, A minor, G major and E minor scales, we're ready to move on to John Thompson's First Grade Book.
