I began teaching in my undergraduate degree at Kutztown, PA. There I began working with the flute studio from a nearby high school. As I have moved to New Jersey, I have taken on my own private studio. I have students ranging in ages 4-50+. My teaching methods are essentially designed to give the student maximum command of his/her skills on their chosen instrument. First, all students must know the music essentials and the masters, especially on their instrument. Technique must be perfected by daily practice. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! It 's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I prefer one on one lesson time. Parents are welcome to stay and watch if they'd like. I don't have a particular style. My teaching method is different for every student based on age, level, and their musical goals. However, the two things that I try to keep consistent among all of my students is a solid technical foundation and curiosity for different musical styles. For beginners, I typically start with the Rubank Beginner or Intermediate method book. Once the student has progressed to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo repertoire along with any pop or jazz songs they might want to learn. Read More
