Music has always been what I love to do. I am deeply grateful to all my teachers and mentors throughout these 18 years such as Judith Mendenhall, Samuel Coles, Paul Edmund Davies, Wissam Boustany, Luis Garcia Renart and many others. I have performed in concerts throughout the United States, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Europe in such halls such as Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Harvard's John Knowles Pain Concert Hall, Yale's Woolsey Hall, National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Shanghain Grand Lyric Theater, Hong Kong Cultural Center and the Megaron of Music in Greece. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I start beginners off with the Rubank Elementary Method, which introduces reading, scales, arpeggios, and expressive devices such as dynamics and articulation. I also like students to start with improvisation, composition, and ear training as soon as possible. I encourage them to both work on whatever repertoire interests them and find new types of music they don't know they're interested in yet. More advanced students may progress to some of the more advanced music theory, technical etude books, and scale/arpeggio exercises. Read More

For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. Read More
Instruments: Flute
When teaching, I start all of my students from the beginning, even if they have experience. The more the student already knows, the quicker we can move. It is extremely important to make sure each student has an very strong foundation and is comfortable with the basics of flute playing. Examples are finger and hand positioning, posture, etc. The language of music theory is used in all lessons as a tool for learning. Read More
Instruments: Flute
I try to make my lessons engaging, fun, and relevant to the student's needs. I like to incorporate performative elements into my lessons, such as playing duets with my students, which is a fun and important experience that allows students to practice matching their rhythm, tone, and pitch to another plater. My goal is to help students find their passion in flute and find themselves looking forward to practicing each day. Read More
