I am a recent graduate from The Juilliard School. I have performed with orchestras around the Tri-State area, and made my debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2013. I have performed in masterclasses across Europe and America with such teachers as James Galway, Julien Beaudiment, Denis Bouriakov, Marina Piccinini, Philippe Bernold, Jim Walker, Karl-Heinz Schtz, and Jill Felber. I encourage student involvement and investment by allowing them to individualize their own lessons. What are the student's goals? Where do they need to be at a certain point in time? All students regardless of goals will learn fundamentals of music theory as well as flute tone and technique. I also encourage flute students to learn a variety of genres, even of those outside of their main focus. I have brought beginners who have never touched music before to work up to Bach and Vivaldi, as well as to their favorite classics like Fleetwood Mac. On the other hand, I have a high level of training and have coached young semi professionals before auditions and competitions to help fine tune their playing before the big day. My teaching style is one of flexibility, but still with expectations. I cater specifically to the needs of the student, and choose repertoire and exercises that will fit with their needs. I encourage positive self-assessments and self talk, and strongly believe that progress is based on collaborative efforts of the student and teacher.
