Empowering my students is my first priority. They will be able to perform a song from the first lesson. I want them to enjoy learning and look forward to their lesson every week. I want them to feel confident about their musical ability and about themselves. My basic structure is a warm-up, review of previously assigned material, introduction of new material, and finishing the lesson with a student chosen song. Read More

My first steps into teaching were as a camp counselor at a local music summer camp in Shaker Heights from 2008-2012. During that time I had a few students who were just beginning to play saxophone and clarinet. Those experiences coupled with phenomenal teachers throughout high school inspired me to pursue a bachelor's degree in Music Education at Ithaca College. During my collegiate years I continued honing my abilities and knowledge of all the instruments I play while also studying music theory, conducting, and composition along with researching pedagogical approaches. I began teaching privately as a high school student, working with begnning students at the middle school. I have taught privately in my home and in students' homes since graduating from college. Regular practice is very important and something I emphasize with my students. I like to include a mixture of classical and modern music in my lessons, so that students enjoy what they are learning and playing. If a student does not enjoy their time playing their instrument, they will not want to put the practice in and lessons will become a point of argument.  Read More
