Overview:
I love teaching beginning and intermediate students in piano and woodwinds. I graduated early from Hiram College in 1993 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education. I have been proudly teaching general and instrumental music in the Cleveland Public Schools for the last twenty-three years. I perform weekly as my church's organist and keyboardist for the Praise and Worship Team. I am currently attending Cleveland State to finish my Master's Degree in Instrumental Music Education. I teach from my home music studio designed with the student in mind.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching private lessons in 1990 and continued through my college years and as I raised my two sons. I was thrilled to move to Maple Heights where I can have a room dedicated as a music studio. I started the band program at my k-8 school in 2000 and currently teach band to high school students. I have continued teaching privately because I enjoy the one on one experience with the student. In return, the student can receive a more personalized learning experience. I joined Musika in 2012, and I truly enjoy working with this company.
METHODS USED
I use the Alfred Piano series for most of my piano students. Woodwind students will use either Rubank or Hal Leonard series of books. During the first lesson, I will clarify the student's goals and needs and choose a book accordingly. I also add finger warm-ups and breathing exercises. Students are encouraged to pick a song from their own choosing to learn as a "fun-song". I try to cover these three things in every lesson, however I am flexible to meet the goals of my students. My professional motto is that I will do "Whatever it takes" for my students to succeed.
LESSON STYLE
Empowering my students is my first priority. They will be able to perform a song from the first lesson. I want them to enjoy learning and look forward to their lesson every week. I want them to feel confident about their musical ability and about themselves. My basic structure is a warm-up, review of previously assigned material, introduction of new material, and finishing the lesson with a student chosen song. The chosen song can be any song the student wants to play. This helps to keep the student motivated while still learning technical aspects of the instrument.

I am an inexperienced piano player and I am impressed with what Renee has helped me accomplish in just three lessons so far. See is courteous, friendly and professional and most importantly she is productive. I would definitely recommend to beginners. The only drawback is she is available in studio only and does not come to your home as Musika advertises.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
