YEARS 1-2: BEGINNER LEVEL Foundation-building happens here. Each student learns approximately 30-40 pieces throughout the year, and participates in 2-3 recitals and possibly an adjudicated event. Students finish 1 theory/activity book per year on average. Practice expectation is 10-20 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. Student music requests are encouraged. YEARS 3-4: LATE BEGINNER LEVEL Continued foundation-building and more creativity start to happen in these two years. For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. I Try to get away from mechanism without joy. Everything has to be close to the music. Exercises to be actually doing them with a rhythm and time. Other than doing things musically, practicing in different times and intentions help a lot for the student to be open to play songs in different ways. Technique and theory are necessary tools. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible.
