Nothing is more rewarding to have students develop a compassion for the music that is played. Whether it is for family, friends or playing in front of a large audience. I think it is important for students to practice what is taught but not to overwhelm them. Music that they play whether it is for a recital or an audition should be an exciting and fulfilling experience and not feel like it is something that is overwhelming. Read More

I grew up in Naples, Italy and I started playing drums since I was about 5. By the time I was 14 I was already playing in the national music scene. After moving to study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (NL) at 18, I quickly started to be part of a more intrnational scene, and by the time I got a scholarship to pursue my second Master degree at Manhattan School of Music in New York, I was already starting playing with some of the most prominent names of the music scene. Once a teacher does that, they'll find that the student will start practicing automatically without having to be asked. At the same time I believe it is incredibly necessary to keep a student on a particular assignment until they have worked on it and have worked it out in practice time. That way they will discover the meaning of achievement and don't have to worry about practice overload and end up giving up. Read More

I can teach many instruments that I have taught myself how to play well and efficiently. I play in many bands and I am always learning new styles of music. My best instruments are Piano, Bass, Drums, Ukulele, Guitar, Percussion, Harmonica, Recorder, Tin Whistle, Mandolin and also Trumpet. My secondary instruments are everything else. I can fool around on Violin, Cello, Banjo and Trombone as an amateur. I could blow into a Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, French Horn and probably anything else I can get my hands on, but I would not feel comfortable teaching them yet because I don't have enough time in the world to learn them and figure out how to play them myself and get as good as I can on those instruments. I emphasize the importance of building confidence and competence on the drums. Many times, new drummers are hard on themselves or put unnecessary pressure on themselves to be good immediately, which can actually limit their progress. I have always enjoyed helping students circumvent this unnecessary pressure, so that the process of learning how to play drums remains fun and rewarding unto itself and becomes less overly focused on the final product. For beginner students who are children, I will typically start with Bastien Piano Elements and/or Piano Adventures. Additionally, I'll incorporate popular musical melodies in EZ plays and have my students begin learning chords so they can begin lead sheet reading some of their favorite tunes. For adults, I'll cater the lesson to what they are looking to accomplish and keep them engaged, learning and continue having fun in their musical element. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
