Depending on the level and specific interests of the student, I garner my curriculum towards their needs. For beginners, I start with Alfred's beginning drum method, and as they progress I incorporate my own additions to the material, as well as digging into the interests of the student. I am big on sharing recordings with students and introducing them to worlds of music they have likely not heard before. For students I will show other people around their age playing the drums and after that I will show them the fundamentals of making a beat and staying on beat. Once students have the fundamentals together then we would play songs that they like and find interesting in and we would play those songs by ear. No matter what level they are in.
