No matter what skill level, the fundamentals are always the same: practice, patience, and practice some more. But the key is patience. For beginner students, patience will be vital for overcoming the independence element of controlling both hands and feet. For intermediate students, patience will be needed to advance their technique with practicing rudiments. And for the advanced students, patience through repetition is crucial to fully unlock their potential. I will teach them to combine previous techniques while mastering syncopation. Read More

I am fairly young and just starting in the world of teaching. Although I have been there as a student since the age of 8 year olds. Always getting inspired by my professor at the academy. I also helped around the academy teaching little kids how to play drums and jamming with them so they can learn how to rock out with a full band and fall in love with playing with people and make good connections. My teaching style is fun and laid back. I let each student work at their own pace but I do encourage them to practice daily and learn proper technique. Read More

I love to watch a student progress. It gives me such joy to see them happy. I always evaluate every student and I set for them small and realistic goals. I explain to them that in order to achieve a certain goal you must first obtain the facility by practicing the exercises assigned to them. Sometimes its hard for small children to understand why they are doing a certain exercise so I explain to them and show what the drummer is doing on a certain performance they want to emulate and in order to achieve that, they must go through the exercises assigned. My expertise is vast -- encompassing hundreds of performances in a variety of styles from operatic/classical to loud and rowdy rock to sublime Christian church music (old and new); encompassing over a decade's worth of teaching experience, from ages 6 to 72 (so far), on several instruments AND voice. My degrees include theory, composition, and singing, but I have been a composing, improvising, sight-reading pianist from childhood on. I have played guitar (including as a successful, gigging musician -- solo, ensemble, and musical theater) for over 20 years. Read More

I started teaching percussion in 2011 at Forest High School. I taught their drum line for four years, until I went to the University of Florida in 2015. We received straight superiors at FBA ever year I taught there. I since have taught private lessons at First Baptist Church since 2012 with a 2 year break due to Marching band at UF. I’ve also been involved in the public school system, teaching at places like Grace school, Fort King Middle school, and Forest High School. Read More

In middle and high school, I performed on saxophone, bassoon, drum set, all percussion, and guitar every year. I performed jazz, classical, military, big band, and marching band music. Served as head of the drumline in high school and taught many musicians how to perform on the snare drum, multi-tenors, bass drums, and mallet percussion. In college, I got more busy with schoolwork :( but I had time to compose music on my own and join a local pop-punk band called Shout London. Read More
