While being driven and goal oriented, I also understand and respect that each individual learns in their own way and in their own time. Through the years experience has taught me to give the student the appropriate knowledge as well as proper space and comfort to explore and to succeed. I adapt my approach based each individual student. I encourage people to learn in their way without judgment or embarrassment, while providing solid technical information, positive reinforcement and advice. Read More

After evaluating a student's understanding and capabilities, I typically choose a method book to parallel their existing skills and work through it at the most enthusiastic, but comfortable pace. The importance of using method books is based in the student's ability to review material between lessons and using them as checklists for progress. Establishment of a solid fundamental approach will be critical to the student's advancement and ability to perform for an audience, regardless of size or venue acoustics. Read More

I combine traditional technique and modern A/V technology to teach immersive drum-lessons that accelerate the student drummers skill, musicality, listening, and notation literacy. While I may reach for a book to cite exercises from books like GL Stones Stick Control or example patterns from Hal Leonwards The New Breed, I do not teach by the book for my students. Instead, I survey students inspiration, goals, and learning style to progress from their passion first, with a focus on learning the drum parts of the songs they love, both by ear and charting in notation. I've started giving private lessons when I was a student at music school and I took great enjoyment from sharing my newly acquired knowledge. Later my first formal teaching job took place in Musicians Institute as Teacher's Assistant. I've been a member of the Los Angeles City College advisory board in 1999 and I've thought as a full time teacher at Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department from 2000 to 2008. I am proud of my students, many of them turned out to be professionals who are performing with prestigious artists today. Read More

Let start from the ground up! With a beginner guitarist or bassist I want to both keep them excited about learning and teach the the fundamental necessary structure required to develop into a one of a kind musician. I use finger training and strengthening techniques to get the students physical ability in tip top shape, along with innovative chord ideas and mental understanding techniques. Most importantly by the end of every lesson even the first one I leave my students with a cool riff to play to show them that what they are learning is truly working, I believe this will keep students engaged in the learning and keep them working harder for the next lesson.
