This is a two way street. I will always listen to my student as I would expect in return. An open mind is essential in learning new motor skills as well exporting a new creative platform. I work with my students to understand the concept of teaching your mind/body new motor skills and muscle memory. This is much more than just learning an instrument, it is learning an entire system of patterns and lists. Read More

I love to watch a student progress. It gives me such joy to see them happy. I always evaluate every student and I set for them small and realistic goals. I explain to them that in order to achieve a certain goal you must first obtain the facility by practicing the exercises assigned to them. Sometimes its hard for small children to understand why they are doing a certain exercise so I explain to them and show what the drummer is doing on a certain performance they want to emulate and in order to achieve that, they must go through the exercises assigned. Music has been my passion from a very early age. I have learned through my years as an educator that sharing this passion with others is just as rewarding as personal experience or success. I greatly enjoy performing as much as I can myself but helping students achieve their own personal musical goals has become one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I look forward to meeting new students and learning about their passions and goals so that I can help them find the most rewarding path possible! Read More

Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Also For both Piano and Guitar I have accumulated many charts and Berklee School of Music pages to use as students start to progress. Read More

I am extremely passionate about music. I enjoy watching the light bulb come on in the eyes of my students when they figured out a specific technique or concept how excited they get. I truly enjoy the process of taking a student from where they are with their technique and knowledge to where they want to be and beyond. I've been teaching for 15 years and in that time I have taught quite a diverse and varied mixture of students over the ears. Read More

With all beginning students, I typically start with very minimal basics. Proper stretches, warm-up techniques (reudiments to help strengthen their dynamics), correct posture and the over all comfort of beginning. Once the student has progressed and understands the fundamentals, next would be reading music and counting time. When moving beyond the fundamentals, I try to focus more on the particular interest of the student. Is there a certain genre, a certain song, a certain player? Read More
