I'm not one to push a student too hard; after a certain point, it becomes counter-productive. Everyone is going to progress at their own rate and it's my job to find out what that rate is. Naturally different people will gravitate towards different things. By putting some time in and figuring out their strengths and weaknesses, I can address certain concepts accordingly. Personal preference is very important; you can't force enthusiasm. Read More

My teaching style really focuses around developing a love for your instrument. If the student loves their instrument and the music that is written for their instrument, they will feel encouraged to practice. I try to pick up on the student's personality and learning styles and make each person's lesson a combination of my teaching styles and what works best for the student. Once we find the routine and groove that works for the both the student and myself, then the learning should come along easily and fun. Read More

I have taught in a variety of settings including children through teens and adults, and children with disabilities, both online and in person, one-on-one and in groups. I started in 2014. I have found that the best method includes positive motivation, which includes both encouragement for what the student is doing successfully, and also pushing the student in areas where they may feel hesitant. If the student enjoys the lesson and feels positive, they'll be less hesitant and excel! Read More

I have taught piano lessons for over 30 years.. I started taking piano lessons myself when I was in third grade. Music has always been such an important part of my life that I want to share that gift with others - for them to love music as much as I do. My husband and I have pastored churches for over 30 years and I was always involved in the music ministry .My husband is a professor of preaching and worship at Asbury University at the Orlando Dunham Campus. I began to take music lessons 20 years ago. When it came time for me to choose a degree and career path, I sought the idea of music therapy - using music to benefit and help others. After learning that career did exist, I completed my education and training to become a board certified music therapist (MT-BC). I understand deeply on a personal and cognitive level the importance of music, and how it shapes and moulds a person's personality and ability to connect with the world around them. Read More
