I try to instill the positive qualities that come from music including the enjoyment of listening and the gain of focus and concentration when learning how to play. I will give each student material and set goals weekly at a pace that he or she is comfortable going at while still challenging the student. Teaching is something that is a passion for me because I understand how important that time can be in that persons life and I truly enjoy sharing the information. Read More

I've been drumming for 15 years now. All the lessons I've had have been through professional instructors. I took lessons from teachers based in St. Louis, New York and Saint Paul. I partook in concert band and Orchestra from elementary to high school. I really love the work of Dave King, a Twin Cities based drummer. I graduated last year with a Bachelors degree in drum performance. I'm always looking to collaborate with other musicians. Read More

My teaching experience actually began when I was a teenager, when I taught my little brother drum set; he became adept enough to form his own rock band when he was a teen! I have been performing for over 40 years. I started my teaching career over 15 years ago.Drums have been my life, and it gives me great pleasure to introduce these skills to young people and adults, and help them express themselves and become proficient, confident drummers.. My teaching methods vary depending on the student and what skills and weaknesses they might have. There are many methods I use, but I will not name them all for time sake and just name a few. Students in schools playing in concert band i will start them with some fundamental rudiment books such as "Stick Control" and "150 Solo Rudimental Solos". Students who come to me that want to learn Jazz, I start them with the" Allan Dawson Method". Read More

I teach to each students style of learning and thinking, and approach my job from a place of complete respect for the students. The most fundamental quality of my teaching style is my desire to make everything I teach relevant and personal for the students, so that they truly connect to what is being taught, rather than simply learning facts and assimilating information. My ultimate goal as a teacher is for my students to be complete, well-rounded players, able to approach any genre with a complete understanding of the depths of music. Read More

I will do whatever it takes to teach the student whatever they are willing to learn. If they want to learn a specific genre on an instrument that has never been used for that genre, I will be happy to teach them. For example, I can play trap music on a piano, but I could also play death metal on a piano as well. Trap music doesn't have to be restricted to a computer, and death metal doesn't have to be restricted to just guitar, bass, and drums. Read More

I like my students to have fun and at the same time to see progress. Any small or big achievement can be very important for the student, such as completing a new song or a new exercise. Every small step further is important because it's a reward that makes their passion for music grow. Read More
