Many times, new drummers are hard on themselves or put unnecessary pressure on themselves to be good immediately, which can actually limit their progress. I have always enjoyed helping students circumvent this unnecessary pressure, so that the process of learning how to play drums remains fun and rewarding unto itself and becomes less overly focused on the final product. I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs and desires. I encourage all of them to develop reading, listening, coordination, and concentrating skills. I help each student to have the ability to play many different music styles and improvise in those styles. We work with developing the ear in order to play along with recorded music and teach them how to transcribe the songs so that they can document it for future use. Read More

They will learn how to read drum music as well as some general music theory that will help them to understand universal music theory a well. I teach the styles of rock, pop, folk, blues, and jazz style as well as marching band style.
