I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who would love to work with students and share the beautiful art that is music. I've been studying and playing drumset for 7 years and I am a rising sophomore at Belmont University. There, I am studying commercial percussion with an emphasis in performance and will get my degree in Bachelor of Arts in 2025. For beginning students we usually start with sitting at 2 drum sets and learning to hold the sticks. It's then about trying to get the sticks to strike the drum and practice getting a nice sound on the instrument. Even at a young age, it's important to help the students to think about tone and how we are creating sound on these instruments. I use the same technique on the vibes, learning to hold 2 or 4 mallets and just creating simple sounds. Read More

I like to start off teaching how to read very simple snare drum and drum set music. Basic snare drum rudiments like Flams and Paradiddles and basic rock beat drum patterns are a fun and engaging way to start learning. I use books as well as transcribe music myself to provide my students with a visual representation. This allows for a more clear communication once the drumming concepts become more challenging and complex. Read More

I see teaching that each student will be different and learn at different rates. Having work with all levels of students, I understand that and recognize that I want to tailor my lessons to the students needs so they can be most successful. This could mean that a learner could be more visual or more auditory etc. I would want to set realistic expectations for the students and keep motivating them to do the best they can. Read More

My teaching includes all aspects of music; Musical theory, sight singing, as well as Music History. My teaching style allows the child to have fun while they learn their instrument, but I emphasize a strong practice regiment. Your child will understand that while learning music and an instrument can be fun, there will be some work involved if they want to become great. I usually use either the Alfred or Rubank method books to supplement a curriculum that I tailor make for each individual student. Read More

Each year after that, I got a new instrument and taught myself how to play it. I got the John Phillip Sousa award for playing trumpet in my high school orchestras. I love playing music in bands and I am always consistently playing music on a daily basis.
