Every student is a universe in itself and every universe is unique and precious. I believe one of the most important things in teaching is understanding. Deeply understanding the student and be flexible to constantly find different and more effective ways to deliver, depending on each individual, is the strength of my method. Every student is a different world and every world is unique and precious. Ultimately, I believe lighting up the students inner fire of curiosity and passion, is one of the greatest lesson that can be taught. Read More

I'm passionate about music, and playing and teaching the drums brings me great joy. I have experience with students of all different ages, abilities and experience levels. I've studied percussion and drum set since 1990, and rudimental and hand drums since 1999. I can teach students to read music, as well as transcribe arrangements and transpose by ear. With consistent lessons, students can learn to play along to their favorite music, and develop confidence to practice and perform with other musicians in a group setting. Read More

For beginning students we usually start with sitting at 2 drum sets and learning to hold the sticks. It's then about trying to get the sticks to strike the drum and practice getting a nice sound on the instrument. Even at a young age, it's important to help the students to think about tone and how we are creating sound on these instruments. I use the same technique on the vibes, learning to hold 2 or 4 mallets and just creating simple sounds. Read More

I began teaching private lessons in 2018 for double bass, electric bass, jazz theory, repertoire and improvisation. After graduating from Berklee I began teaching bass for the Hopkinton Music Association, a non-profit supporting music education in Hopkinton Public Schools. In 2023 I was hired as a music teacher for Note-worthy Experiences Music Studio and Karen Amlaw Music, where I taught bass, oboe, and English horn. I love to help students find their artistic voices and discover the joy in music making. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with the basic fundamentals of the instrument, focussing on right posture, grip and sound. For intermediate students there is more freedom. If there is a good understanding of how the fundamentals work, the student can share her / his preference with me. Since I teach all genres, there is a very broad palette to discuss. Whenever I have a good feeling with the student's preference, I'll come up with a system so we can start working on new material. Read More

I have had a passion for music since I was ten years old, and I would love nothing more than to share that passion with the next generation of young musicians. I graduated with a degree in jazz performance from Rutgers University in 2020, and have performed all across the country with several phenomenal musicians, at venues such as Feinstein's 54 Below, Count Basie Theater, Carnegie Hall, and numerous colleges and universities across the east coast. If the student relates to the material, everything will come much easier. I usually begin with music the student likes, and often use that same piece to pivot into learning drum notation. Once the student grasps the concept behind rhythmic notation and subdivision, presenting them with additional, more complex material is simple and becomes increasingly more rewarding! For younger students presenting them with drum notation as simple number counts and times where 2 or more instruments play simultaneously has worked wonderfully in my experience. Read More
