Being welcoming and helping my students to be comfortable is important. As a public school educator, I have witnessed the difficulty some students have in trying to be creative and to 'perform' in front of their peers. I tend to be a teacher on a stricter side as that is how my music teachers were back in Europe. I find this style to be working with my students as they do accomplish their goals and win various competitions. Depending on the age and students goals (professional musician or just playing for fun) I adjust my style accordingly. Even if the student only wants to play for their own enjoyment I still find a way to make the material challenging for them to improve their skills, technique, musicianship, and thus make it worth their while. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students having fun! My goal as an educator is to engage every student through fun games, activities, and chamber music no matter how much experience they have with music. Students are always encouraged to explore different styles of music. In order to track a student's performance and progress, they are required to have a journal. In their journals, they will keep track of their goals and evaluate themselves. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I have taught saxophone, flute, and clarinet to students of all ages for over the past 8 years and have found it best to tailor the lessons to the individual needs of the student while emphasizing the basics of tone production, technique and proper attitude. Recently, I was the saxophone professor at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. I also like to help the student develop time management skills to allow him or her to create a healthy habit of practicing. Read More
