My teaching style is heavily student focused: By listening to my student's voice and choice, I want to work together to create musical goals for them that we can develop as we progress. While I believe in creating a learning environment focused on intrinsic motivation, I hope my positive attitude and love for music can serve as a source of inspiration for my students! The most important aspect of any lesson is the joy that we bring to it, which is crucial to us developing musical skills and beautiful music. Read More

I've worked in many different fields around music education, enabling me to have a broad range of experiences and an ability to adapt to any situation. As a music instructor, I've taught 1-on-1 private lessons, and I've also worked at several summer camps including the Florida State University Jazz Camp, where I was the musical assistant to professor Bill Kennedy, and at Long Lake Camp For The Arts, where I served as the head of the music department. While I generally begin with the Rubank Method and move onto a more personalized approach after 7th or 8th grade, I am always focused on providing the individual student with the best guidance possible. I like to encourage solo performance for friends and family early on to achieve performance experience and mitigate nervousness. If a student is interested in jazz or other styles of improvisation or composition, they will have a chance to get their feet wet in these areas at a young age as well. Read More

Over the years I've discovered that taught properly from day one, anyone can play the clarinet with ease! The clarinet is typically known as being a troublesome instrument to learn, but I have found that this is only due to poor hand technique and poor embouchure. Squeaks and squawks are only due to fingers not covering the holes, or too much mouth piece in the mouth. It is a priority of mine to make sure the student can produce a quality sound on their instrument, (for themselves, for myself and everyone else who gets to listen to them practice). Read More

I am a passionate and caring instructor who loves working with students to build a long lasting love of music. I attended New York University for my Bachelor of Music and McGill University for my Master of Music. I am constantly continuing my education with private clarinet instruction in New York City. I frequently attends woodwind workshops and seminars by artists/ensembles such as Ricardo Morales, Anton Rist, the Imani Winds, and the Fifth House Ensemble. Read More

Joey R. is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist and educator from Riverwoods, IL. He found his love for music at the age of nine while hearing John Coltranes monumental solo on Giant Steps. It was in this moment that Joey began his lifelong journey in sound. Joeys years in school were fruitful; he shared the stage with Patti Austin, Shelly Berg, Gloria Estefan, Alan Ferber, Quincy Jones, Brian Lynch, Barry Manilow, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Charlie Watts, and John Williams. I am a graduate from NYU with a Master’s in Music Technology. I am hoping to start a career in the music industry or any similar field. I have been playing in multiple bands and orchestras since I was young, and have played at all levels. I have helped other or fellow musicians at places like Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, where I was a music staff intern during one summer. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
