I am very relaxed and understanding, but extremely focused and productive in lessons. I do not force my students to practice; if they don't have an urge to practice then I need to adjust my approach. I have created my own method of teaching which I have perfected over the years. I create my own exercises and practice materials based on the level and interests of each individual student. I use the software program "Finale" in order to create the musical compositions that I prepare for my students. I always accompany my students on the piano. For beginning students, I typically will start them on a method book such as The Yamaha series, and start them on the basic pedagogy of the clarinet and saxophone,ie; putting the instrument together, putting the reed on the mouthpiece, setting the embouchure, etc. I will emphasize the importance of practicing; beginners, 5 times a week for 20 minutes, so they can succeed in learning their instrument. Over the past decade I have performed with world-renowned performers and conductors all over the world. I have performed recital, chamber, concerto, and orchestral repertoire. At Indiana University I performed solo recitals, concertos, chamber music, and in orchestra. In addition to earning a minor degree in historical clarinet performance I earned a Performer's certificate for outstanding student recitals. Currently, I am a student at Yale pursuing an MM degree.
