Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Piccolo Oboe
Depending on the individual needs goals of each student, I will customize lesson plans on a week-to-week basis. If there are no immediate goals for my students, I prefer to focus on classical technique and tone exercises that I compile through a variety of method books for each woodwind instrument. This includes but is not limited to: Moyse, Kroepsch, Baermann, Ferling, Shaw, Filas, Lacour, and many others. Classical technique is boring however, and I also believe that it should be applied towards learning real music that I will tailor to each student! Read More

I began teaching lessons when I was in college five years ago, and have continued teaching in New Jersey. I do not yet have a home studio, but am willing to go straight to the student as well as conduct online lessons. I taught elementary and middle school music in the Oakland Public School District, and taught elementary general music at Sporting Hill Elementary School. I continue to teach music as a part of the Indian Hills Marching Band staff. Read More

My teaching experience begins in graduate school in San Diego. I spent most of high school and college developing my own skills. I have taught ages ranging from 10-25. I think it is important for teachers in an artistic field to have experience teaching outside their focus in order to learn more about how they teach. In graduate school, I taught a total of 6 undergraduate courses in Acting and Public Speaking. Read More

I work with children of all ages with all levels of ability to develop self-discipline and inspiration to reach new heights in harnessing their craft. In my role on the teaching staff at the Jacksonville (FL Community Music School, I worked to bring inspiring educational experiences to elementary and middle school age music students. Read More

Beginning Piano Students: I use three books in the Piano Adventures series: (Performance, Lesson, and Theory). I work composition into the lesson using the Orff-Schulwerk technique of elemental music creation. In addition, I supplement written musical work as needed. Voice Students: I interview all voice students first to see what their goals are in voice study. I then begin vocal study with the study of posture using Alexander Technique ideas, and a study of breathing and support techniques. Read More
