Instruments: Piano Voice

I start off all beginning students by teaching them the fundamentals of singing. If students have taken lessons in the past, I work on reviewing fundamental concepts with them. When a student first begins lessons, I typically spend more time on helping to build the student's technique than on repertoire, and as the student progresses, I split the lesson more equally between the two components. I believe in motivating students by helping them learn the repertoire to which they are most attracted, though I do also give them repertoire of styles with which they may be less familiar in order to help them solidify their technique. Instruments: Voice

For beginning students I typically start with breathing techniques and an explanation of the anatomy of the instrument. Vocal warm ups according to the skill level will be in every lesson, as well as repertoire. I always find out what the student is interested in, and work accordingly to keep it interesting and fun. Instruments: Voice

While there may be a select few who can find vocal freedom with minimal to no formal training, for the vast majority this is not the case. Therefore, in lessons I will provide vocalises (or vocal exercises) that will isolate ideas, strengthen and coordinate muscles, and create the foundation for efficient vocal functionality. Physiology - Since the voice is part of our physical body, the vocalises chosen will be scientifically based on the complex anatomical structures that make up the vocal instrument. Read More

The way I learned is the way I teach. I was taught the same way multiple ways and because of this I can give students different avenues to learn the same thing. So if they don't understand it in A, or B, I still have C, and D as a back up. I try to include the student to help navigate their own lesson plan and figure out what they want to focus on. I started my private teaching instruction in both voice and piano at The Renaissance Center in Southbury, CT. I have always enjoyed teaching my craft and enstilling the love for music, theatre, and dance into my students in the same ways that my teachers did for me. I have been teaching privately since I was in high school, and I have been public and private school teaching general music and choir for over 15 years. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Method Books. Once the student can get the basics down I start with basic rock and pop tunes, or whatever music the student happens to be interested in. Forintermediateor advanced players, I try to gage where the student wants to go with the instrument and try to help them any way I can with theory or performance. I try to keep the student engaged and having fun no matter what but at the same time becoming a better musician. Read More

I'm an up and coming singer-actor who was classically trained at the university level. I continued my classical training under the tutelage of a graduate of Philadelphia's world renown Academy of Vocal Arts and long-time performer of the Metropolitan Opera. I decided to train in contemporary musical theater and pop technique under the teacher of several Broadway stars. I have performed in musicals, short films and Operas here in New York City. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
