Over the years, my students have consistently placed high in the Western Region Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Orchestra, and several of them have gone on to the extremely competitive Connecticut All-State Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Orchestra. I then like to guide them towards a more wholistic approach to music focusing on learning harmony and melody through the use of lead sheets. I am a musician, composer, and educator seeking to share my musical knowledge with students who are eager to learn. I was born into a musical family, and was exposed to great music from an early age. I began playing the piano when I was eight, picked up the saxophone at ten, and have been playing flute and clarinet now for about six years. Following my musical education, attaining my Bachelor's of Music Performance at Ohio State University and then a Master's of Music at Western Michigan University, I worked as a musician for Royal Caribbean Cruises, performing alto saxophone, flute, and clarinet as part of the Show Band aboard the Radiance of the Seas. I took two semesters of clarinet pedagogy at KU and I frequently presented clinics to middle school students in Lawrence public schools. I have been teaching private music lessons for more than 30 years at my home and at my student's homes.  After I received my Master's degree I obtained my teaching certificate in vocal and instrumental music for grades K - 12.  I taught vocal music for the Jersey City Board of Education and later I taught strings for the  Kearny Board of Education.  I prepared students for auditions and recitals always encouraging them to practice and learn music theory and music history.
