I'm a dedicated cellist and collaborative musician. Through my training, I have been fortunate to work with a number of inspiring mentors and teachers. I began my serious training on the cello in Santa Barbara, California where I participated in the Santa Barbara Music and Arts Conservatory.  It was through this program that I came in contact chamber music, and artist-teachers who instilled in me a drive for the richness, color and palette of sound possibilities the cello can create. I have been teaching group and private lessons since 2021, and I have experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds in both virtual and in-person lesson formats. As part of my appointment as a Teaching Fellow through NEC's Community Performances Partnerships program, I am currently a Teaching Assistant at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Dorchester, MA, where I work with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade cello students on technique and music-reading, and through this fellowship and other NEC classes, I have received training in various pedagogical practices for private teaching. With beginning students, I use exercises from Suzuki and Essential Elements books as a basis for note reading, but I also frequently use "echo" or "call-and-response" playing. I find this is especially important in developing a student's ear for pitch and tone early on. As a student progresses and their musical interests develop, I combine standard classical repertoire that I grew up playing with song transcriptions of film, jazz, and rock music formatted to match each student's ability level and current technical goals. As I am certified in Suzuki Book 1, I start students with Suzuki books and methods, while also supplementing with other materials and incorporating any extra music/activities a student might be excited about! With students who have already started, I will often still refer to the Suzuki materials, but I will pull more from other books and repertoire. I am very flexible in strategy and method based on where the student is at and where they want to go, no matter their age. Read More

I have played cello since age 4 and piano since age 7. I holds a B.M. in cello performance and composition from Ithaca College, as well as a Masters in cello performance from Boston University. Currently earning a Performance Studies Certificate in Contemporary Classical Music from Boston Conservatory under Rhonda Rider, I perform with the contemporary ensemble there, as well as freelance performing in the greater Boston area.
