I love both teaching and performing voice and piano to all ages. My greatest passion is getting to share my love and lifelong pursuit of music with my students, no matter their level. When I am not teaching, I am often performing as a soprano soloist with prominent groups in Boston and around the country. In my teaching, I value healthy technique, music literacy (it is a language!), exposing students to diverse repertoire, and ample opportunities for students to play active roles in their creative development in music. I began teaching private lessons in college and continued to teach one on one lessons and larger group lessons for the next several years. The key to success in lessons is to practice at home and come ready to learn and have fun! Anything worth doing will come with challenges and hard work, and there are few things and gratifying as learning to sing or playing an instrument! Music is "whole brain" learning that combines our intellect, our fine motor skills, our affections, and our ability to multitask. Read More

To help students become familiar with rhythms, I occasionally use clapping exercises and even collaborate with them to create a song together. When I teach music, I make sure to emphasize sustainability. It's important to me that my students understand how to take care of their instruments, use resources efficiently, and appreciate the natural world that inspires music. By teaching sustainability along with music, I hope to help my students become responsible and caring individuals who can make a positive impact on the world. Read More

I usually try to set small goals for my students each week especially for kids as a new instrument can seem like a daunting task. Something I like to do is encouraging a students own creativity and get them to try writing their own pieces or songs. Something I find helps a lot especially with kids is acknowledging their accomplishments because it will encourage them to progress in learning. Another thing that works a lot with kids is making a game out of practicing, these kinds of things will really access their creativity. Read More

The first half of a typical voice lesson is spent on vocal warm-ups and vocalises. These consist of scales, arpeggios, vowel unification, breath work, etc. and have been accumulated from many teachers over a variety of traditions. Vocalises are the most important part of a solid vocal technique. The second half of lessons is spent working on repertoire either brought in by the student or assigned by myself. Concepts from vocal warm ups will be applied to repertoire, and students are expected to practice on a regular basis outside of lessons. Read More

I've been teaching singing lessons for over a decade, to all students levels and ages, and I saw them successfully reaching their musical goals with confidence and passion, and that has been very rewarding for me. I always start from a very solid foundation on vocal technique, breath control, to move with expanding their vocal range, stamina, and vocal agility. I encourage my students to challenge themselves in performances, and auditions, so we also focus our work on preparing an appropriate repertoire, working on stage presence, performance skills, and stage fright, if any. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
